Terms of Service

BjörnBear Terms of Service (Last Updated: December 8th, 2025)

All clients are required to agree to our terms of service (TOS) prior to their initial grooming appointment, or if their appointment was made after the TOS has been updated. Failure to comply will result in loss of appointment. The signer of this agreement is considered the “pet parent” and “owner.”.

Customer Interaction | Our groomers and team members care deeply for each pet as if it were their own. Any abusive language or behavior toward our staff is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated.

Pet Safety and Health | BjörnBear reserves the right to refuse grooming services to any pet we determine is a health risk or in unsuitable condition, for the safety of both pet and groomer.

Disclosure of Information | Grooming can be stressful for pets, especially if infrequent. It is essential that owners disclose any known health issues, recent veterinary visits, or previous grooming challenges.

If the owner fails to disclose information about allergies and/or skin conditions, BjörnBear will not be responsible for any irritation, patchiness, abrasions, or hair loss resulting from grooming.

Owners must disclose information about any physical or medical conditions (e.g., hip dysplasia, epilepsy). BjörnBear will not be responsible for injuries occurring due to undisclosed conditions.

We do not sedate pets, and owners must inform us if any medications have been given prior to grooming.

It is the owner’s responsibility to notify BjörnBear of any new medical conditions.

Our groomers may discover health issues during grooming and will advise on necessary actions, such as veterinary visits. BjörnBear is not liable for pre-existing conditions discovered during grooming. The owner agrees to bear all medical treatment costs resulting from such conditions.

Booking Appointments | BjörnBear does not offer walk-in services at the moment. Please book appointments for all of our service offerings via our website, or by contacting us at 647-410-3827 or nova@bjornbeargrooming.com

Service Change and Rescheduling | Please be considerate of our groomers' schedules and other clients on the waitlist - If you wish change a full groom to a tidy/upkeep service or reschedule your appointment, please advise a week prior to the appointment date. If a request for a service change from a full groom to a tidy is made within 24hrs of the appointment time, the full groom fee will be charged. Service change and/or rescheduling requests made within 24hrs of the appointment time will be subject to groomer availability.

Service Cancellation | Cancellation Requests must be made via email (nova@bjornbeargrooming.com) or text (647-410-3827), at minimum 24 hours prior to the appointment time. If a cancellation request is made within 24 hours of the appointment time, a cancellation fee, up to the total amount owed for the service booked, may be charged, at the groomer's discretion.

Grooming Frequency | Dogs typically require grooming every 4-8 weeks, though individual needs vary. We perform standard grooming procedures tailored to each dog’s needs.

Completion of Grooming | BjörnBear will not subject pets to excessive stress. If grooming becomes stressful, it will be halted. Payment will be due for the portion of grooming completed. We prioritize pet welfare over adherence to a specific style and will communicate alternative styles if necessary.

Vaccinations Per Ontario Law, dogs must have current rabies vaccinations prior to services. Dogs without current vaccinations will be rescheduled upon verification of vaccination updates.

Mandatory Flea and Tick Prevention | During flea and tick season (March to November), all dogs must be current on flea and tick prevention medication prior to their appointment. Although our grooming studio is a separate space and we employ pest prevention and control measures, it is still within our home. For the health and safety of Björn and all furry friends, pets not current on their flea and tick medication will be sent home, and the appointment will still be charged. Operations will need to cease, and subsequent appointments will be cancelled if fleas or ticks are discovered. We appreciate your understanding.

Dog Walking ServicesBjörnBear offers:

·       Private Walks: One dog per walk, tailored to individual needs.

·       Semi-Private Walks: Up to four dogs per walk, matched for compatibility and energy level.

Owners understand and accept the inherent risks of dog walking, including but not limited to interactions with other dogs, environmental hazards, traffic, and unforeseen incidents. While every effort is made to ensure safety, BjörnBear is not liable for injuries, accidents, escapes, or illnesses occurring during or as a result of walks, except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

Owners agree to provide appropriate, well-fitting collars or harnesses and secure leashes for walks. If equipment is deemed unsafe, BjörnBear may refuse service until corrected.

Right to Refuse Service for Dog Walking | BjörnBear reserves the right to remove a dog from a semi-private walk or refuse ongoing walking services if the dog displays aggression, is disruptive, or does not integrate well with the group. In such cases, alternative arrangements such as private walks may be offered, or services may be discontinued entirely for safety.

Hand stripping | Appointments For dogs that require hand stripping, they must be booked under the “It’s Been Awhile” appointment category. Hand stripping is a specialized and labor-intensive process, and this designation ensures adequate time and care can be dedicated to the procedure.

Matted Pets | Severe matting may require shaving. BjörnBear assumes no liability for skin issues exposed by removing severely matted coats. Owners agree to maintain their dog’s coat between professional grooming appointments and acknowledge that removing mats may cause discomfort.

Shaving Pets | Owners choosing short shaves acknowledge potential changes in coat appearance, texture, and color. BjörnBear is not liable for any discomfort or irritation following grooming.

Elderly Pets | Grooming elderly dogs poses higher risks due to stress and physical limitations. We prioritize comfort over aesthetic results, providing “comfort grooms” to reduce stress.

Pregnant Pets | Pregnant dogs can only be groomed with explicit owner consent, preferably in early pregnancy stages.

Preexisting Injuries Dogs with stitches or sutures are not accepted for grooming. Preexisting injuries must be reviewed by groomers prior to grooming appointments.

Aggressive Pets | BjörnBear reserves the right to halt grooming if a dog becomes dangerously aggressive. Charges may apply for partial grooming completed.

Products and Services | All grooming products are specifically formulated for pets. BjörnBear is not responsible for adverse reactions. We do not offer veterinary services, and all health advice must be verified with a licensed veterinarian.

Consent for Media Use | Owners consent to BjörnBear taking and using photos and/or videos of their pets for promotional purposes on BjörnBear’s website, social media, and marketing materials.

Waiver and Release from Liability | By agreeing to our Terms of Service, the pet parent explicitly consent to release BjörnBear (BIN 1000002990), its employees, agents, officers, directors, affiliates, successors, members, and assigns from any and all liability, damages, expenses, actions, claims, and lawsuits arising from or connected to grooming, walking, feeding, daycare, playdates, and other related services provided.

The pet parent acknowledge the risks associated with grooming and pet care, including but not limited to potential injuries from dog interactions, allergic reactions, grooming incidents, and accidents. The pet parent assumes all associated risks and waive claims related to injury, death, or property damage arising from provided services, with explicit exception to gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

The pet parent confirm that they are mentally competent, and voluntarily agree to this waiver without duress or inducement. Acknowledgment of these terms demonstrates the pet parent's intent to fully release BjörnBear from liability.

After Appointments and Walks Owners must notify BjörnBear of concerns within 24 hours. BjörnBear is not responsible for the dog’s condition after leaving our care.

Privacy | BjörnBear retains only essential information required for grooming services. Refer to our Privacy Policy for further details.
